I just finished reading this book and really enjoyed it!. It's a quick read, pretty straight and too the point and very motivating! I wanted to get out of debt before and this gave me the nice nudge I needed toward taking it more serious, buckling down and finally getting it done. This book was placed in my hands by the author herself, and I thank her from the bottom of my heart! God knows just what you need and just when you need it. This is a very easy read book and I read half of it the day she gave it to me. Thank you Dr. Bonita Vinson for being my S.I.S (Sister In Sync)!!
The book was fun to read, easy to understand, and easy to put into practice right away. It was just what I needed! It was well written, insightful, and had lots of great examples to show me how to move forward with a plan.
I am not a purse person, but I own my fair share of pumps and other items that left me broke at the end of the month despite earning a decent salary. If I had read Vinson's book years ago, all of my hard-earned cash could have went toward more meaningful things (as well as to prepare for my retirement, sigh.....). Vinson talks candidly about the real reason so many women shop and waste money and how to let go of long-held attitudes and behaviors that leave us with plenty of "stuff" but not what we really need. All women should read this book--even those who consider themselves pretty good savers because it really is an eye-opener.
Purses, Pearls & Pumps Straight Talk About Women & Finances gets to the nitty gritty of some of the nonsense women subscribe to in the name of vanity and keeping up with the Jones/Harris'/Johnsons and Garcia's! If you use payday loans and have no savings account, you brag about your Coach bag that's loaded with maxed out credit cards and no cash (and no saving) then you need to get this book. If you know this girl, buy it for her. But get it and get right for 2014 and beyond.
Last note If you're over 35, living with someone, own nothing and are sick and tired of being sick and tired of your situation - GET THE BOOK, apply the principles and start living your life to it's fullest!
